Bethel Township

On April 1 around 9:35am, a 2012 International Truck & Engine Pro Star (Unit #1) and a 2017 Toyota Corolla (Unit #2) were traveling east on I-78. Unit #1 was traveling in the left lane and Unit #2 was traveling in the right lane. At approximately Mile Marker 5.8, Unit #1 attempted to change lanes into the right lane. Initial impact occurred as the right rear wheel portion of Unit #1 scraped the driver’s side rear tire area of Unit #2. I observed no visible damage to Unit #1. Unit #2 had minor damage to the driver side rear tire and area surrounding it. There were no passengers in either Unit. There were no injuries and both vehicles were driven from the scene. The driver of Unit 1 was charged with turning movements and required signals.

This vehicle crash occurred on April 1 around 7:12am as Unit #2 was legally stopped at a stop sign extended from a school bus. Unit #2, a 2009 Honda Accord driven by a 30 year old Hegins, PA woman, was on W. Main Street, stopped facing east while a school bus was making a stop. Unit #1 was also traveling east on W. Main Street and failed to stop for the school bus and the two vehicles behind it. Initial impact occurred as the front of Unit #1 struck the left rear of Unit #2. After impact, Unit #1 failed to stop and exchange info. Unit #1 turned around and fled the scene west on Main Street. The fleeing vehicle was described as a late 1990s model silver Dodge pickup, possibly a Dakota. A witness described a black push bar attached to the front of the truck. Cornwall Borough

On Saturday March 30 at around 1:00 AM, an officer on patrol on SR 72 near the Fairview Golf Course heard approx. 15 gunshots in rapid succession coming from somewhere east of his location. At 1:28 AM, a Miners Village resident reported hearing gun shots from the area of Miners Lake (Open Pit quarry) and said the shots had been going on for 15 minutes. There is no legitimate reason for anyone to be shooting at such time. If you hear gunshots during the night, please call 911 immediately so an officer can respond to the area.

East Hanover Township

This 2-vehicle crash occurred on March 21 around 8:09pm as Unit #1, a 2007 Pontiac Vibe driven by an 87 year old Grantville man, was attempting to pull out from the stop sign at Coon Creek Road at its intersection with SR 22. Unit #2, a 2002 Toyota Avalon driven by a 17 year old Palmyra man, was traveling west on SR 22 in the right lane. Operator #1 pulled out into the right lane of travel on SR 22 and came to a stop. Operator #2 was unable to avoid contact with Unit #1. Initial impact occurred as the front right of Unit #2 struck the front left of Unit #1. Both operators reported no injuries. The driver of Unit #1 was charged with stop signs and yield signs.

Jackson Township

On March 13 around 12:55pm, a 2009 BMW M3 driven by a 38 year old Myerstown man was stopped by Troopers after it was observed to have an expired inspection sticker. In addition, the driver was believed to have had a burglary-related warrant out of Lebanon County. Upon contacting the driver, the Myerstown man, and his passenger, a 39 year old Myerstown woman, it was determined that the man was indeed wanted. The man was taken into custody without incident. Both the man and woman were found to be in possession of illegal drugs as well. Charges of drug possession are pending.

On March 20 around 8:45pm, unknown suspect(s) entered KRIMES Industrial and Mechanical Inc at 633 W. Lincoln Ave. The unknown suspect(s) used a blunt object to vandalize several pieces of equipment before exiting the building. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Rothermel of PSP-Jonestown. Stolen: Jackson 10lb sledge hammer, value $55.

Swatara Township

This crash occurred on March 26 around 9:09 am as Operator 1 was traveling south on Old Jonestown Road. Operator #1 continued to the Intersection with SR 72 where there is a clearly posted stop sign. Operator #1 attempted to make a left turn onto SR 72 when she traveled into the path of Unit #2. Initial impact occurred as the 1 o’clock portion of Unit #1 struck the 8 o’clock portion of Unit #2. There were no passengers in either unit. Both operators reported no injuries and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
