Michael H. Wise, II was killed June 5, 2004 in the line of duty while working as a police officer for the City of Reading.

Prior to joining the City of Reading as a police officer, Wise had worked as an EMT and Paramedic for First Aid and Safety Patrol in Lebanon, as well as doing the same in Pittsburgh, where he lived for almost six years before returning to raise a family in Myerstown. Wise was a 1990 graduate of Cedar Crest High School.

Since his death in 2004, Wise’s life has been remembered through the Michael H. Wise II Foundation, created in 2006 to honor his life and ensure that his name and sacrifice are remembered by all.

One of the organization’s biggest events is the annual Ride for Wise, which was held this past Sunday for the 15th time.

The ride began at noon from Reading Area Community College, traveling past Grandview Cemetery in Annville where Wise is buried and ending up in Cleona. An after party was held at Ozgoods in Robesonia.
