At its June 26 board meeting, the Cornwall Lebanon School District officially adopted a new four-year contract.

The CLSD Board of School Directors and the Cornwall-Lebanon Education Association (CLEA) jointly signed the collective bargaining agreement for the 2019-2020 through 2020-2023 school years.

Over the next four years, salaries will increase by 2.5% each year.

Healthcare coverage has also been revised with changes to annual deductibles and co-payments.

Members of the CLEA first voted to approve the contract June 17, 2019 after stages of negotiation headed by Greg Fulkerson, chief negotiator.

All agenda items for the June 26 meeting were approved 8-0, as one of nine board members was unable to attend.

The members in attendance were board President Ruth Ann Schlegel, board Vice President Bryan Smith, Susan Dieffenbach, Keith Donnachie, Robert Griffiths, Jane Owsiak, Jeffrey Snyder, and Joel Zug.

An April 2019 photo of the current CLSD Board of School Directors found on the district’s website. In addition to Board members listed above, the photo also includes Diane Wuori, who was unable to attend the June 26 meeting.

Aside from the collective bargaining agreement, the board also approved use of facilities by the Falcon Youth Basketball Club on certain Sundays as well as various personnel items.

Personnel items included accepting resignations of Jessica Martin and Sarah Schaefer, changing employment status for Drew Gingrich from long-term substitute to sixth grade teacher and Laurie Munnion from CCHS attendance secretary to school secretary, and approving the hiring of Joey Leal as head bowling coach and John Wuori as head boys’ lacrosse coach.

Full Disclosure: Emily Bixler is related to an employee of the Cornwall Lebanon School District. However, she did not consult this relative about the topic while writing the article.

Emily Bixler was born and raised in Lebanon and now reports on local government. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano and going for hikes.
