Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

As we continue our journey on the Ice Cream Wars, we found ourselves down in the southern end of the Valley, just over the mountain.

Today we visited a place that is a popular spot amongst the locals of the Valley. Would it meet our expectations?

Located along Route 322 in Clay, Lancaster County, Fox Meadows Creamery offers homemade ice cream as well as several cold treats made with their ice cream. With their popularity, they recently opened a second location in Leola.

It is not uncommon to have lines out the front door when you arrive. If that’s the case, have no fear, it’s rarely longer than a 15 minute wait. When it is your turn at the counter, you can sample as many flavors as you want to you can order the best treat for you.

For today’s offering, we got a Baked Fox ($6.50), a Fox Meadow signature treat. We also got two scoops of ice cream (lemon lush and Belgian cookie butter) in a fresh waffle bowl ($6.65).

The baked fox is a cookie outer shell. We chose chocolate chip with chocolate covered strawberry ice cream in the middle. You get to choose your flavor of ice cream and cookie for this treat. This gets to be a lot of sweetness. As with any other treat here, each is hand-crafted by the numerous staff available and presented very well.

Each season, Fox Meadows has a few flavors of ice cream as featured flavors. Today, one was the Belgium cookie butter. This churned dairy concoction comes with chunks of cookie and a creamy texture. Our second flavor was a very lemony lemon lush. Fans of lemon flavor will not be disappointed by this selection.

Fox Meadows makes their own waffle bowls/cones fresh there. If you order a few scoops, treat yourself to one. As with most anything you get here, it is the epitome of top-notch quality. This is an ice cream shop that does it right. Fantastic ice cream, plenty of staff, wide selections, unique treats, and a play area for the kids.

We give this place ?????.
