Editor’s Note: Last year, Michael and Nicole Borrell began reviewing Lebanon Valley’s restaurants and eating attractions as the Lebanon Valley Food Critics. Since then, the couple has aimed to offer unbiased reviews of the eating and drinking establishments the Lebanon Valley has to offer. LebTown is pleased to be partnering with LVFC to share these reviews with our readers. Bon appétit!

Thank you all for being with us through year one of visiting the restaurants of the Valley. We have so many more places to review. So, for dinner tonight we decided to accomplish just that.

Our initial plan didn’t work out as they require reservations, and we were turned away. We needed a Plan B. Thankfully our little critic wasn’t hangry, so we had some time to discuss. We were in South Lebanon and not too far away was a place that many people have suggested we try since it opened.

Located in the new development project of North Cornwall Commons, Mick’s All American Pub Lebanon is an American style restaurant that has several locations in south central PA, this being the first in the Lebanon Valley.

For our meal tonight, we got the Fish & Chips ($16.99), Pub Meatloaf ($15.99), crock of French Onion soup ($5.99) and a kid’s grilled cheese ($2).

As an appetizer, we got a favorite of ours that we don’t have too often, French onion soup. This was freshly made and was a hit at our table, even the little critic enjoyed it. Glad we got it. One critic also got a frozen strawberry margarita, a nice treat for the end of the long week.

The fish & chips are hand-battered pieces on a hefty bed of French fries. The flakey fish comes with four smaller pieces. The amount of fries was enough to share amongst everyone at the table as well as the leftovers.

For our second meal, I was torn between the meatloaf and Irish gumbo. I asked our waitress to pick for me. She said, “meatloaf for sure.” The pub meatloaf was two pieces of thick cut, housemade meatloaf topped with applewood bacon and served with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The seasoning made this enjoyable all the way through. The bacon was not needed to make this dish pop, but who is going to complain about the presence of bacon?

Our take: Mick’s gives the feel of a new restaurant because it is. It is not lacking space. We had trouble picking our entrees because they all looked good. They have a large kid’s menu with the best prices for your little one’s meal(s). Food quality is good and the food comes out fast. We were pleased with our meal, and we feel you will too.

We give this place ????.
