Donald H. Umberger, 89, of Annville, died Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Florence B. (Risser) Umberger.

Born in South Annville Township on August 4, 1933, he was the son of the late William H. and Mary A. (Herr) Umberger.

At the time of his death, Donald was Township Manager of South Annville Township and a member of Salem UCC in Campbelltown. Donald was part of the second-generation ownership of Umbergers of Fontana (Mill) for most of his life while serving as a Supervisor, Secretary/Treasurer, and Manager of South Annville Township for more than 50 years. Donald also served in many leadership capacities for Salem UCC, spent years on the board of both Interfaith Manor and Lebanon County Farmland Preservation, and was a Scout Master for the Fontana Boy Scouts. Donald was an avid sports fan, playing in a church softball league, many basketball games, and golfing a lot in his later years. Donald also served in the US Army MP in Heidelberg, Germany, in the 1950s.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Don M. Umberger, husband of Cindy of Hershey, and two grandchildren, Katie Umberger, wife of Jonathan Toto, and Christy Umberger, partner of Christian Brand.

Donald was preceded in death by a son, David M. Umberger, a brother, William H. Umberger, and six half-siblings, Grace Sanders, Howard, Joe, Wayne, Cloyd, and Hobart Umberger.

A public visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until the time of the funeral service, which is 7:00 pm on Friday, August 12th, 2022, at Salem United Church of Christ, 2761 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown, PA 17010. A time of Fellowship will follow the service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
