George D. Miller, 86, of Jonestown, and formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, at Traditions of Hershey. He was the husband of the late Joyce E. Kennedy Miller.

Born in Coatesville on Dec. 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Norman and Elizabeth Borden Miller.

George retired from the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center, where he had been a computer technology instructor for 36 years. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Force Reserve and on active duty with the U.S. Air Force.

He attended St. John’s (Gernant’s) Church in Leesport. He was a member of the Lickdale American Legion, Palmyra VFW, and the NRA. George was a member of the Lebanon County Poetry Society and was the county’s Poet Laureate for a year. He was the author of “The Last Train to Montana” and hundreds of poems.

He is survived by his sons, G. Dane, husband of Chiyo Miller, of Reading, and Darryl G. Miller, husband of Jennifer Zemba, of Jonestown; grandchildren, Kai, Brooks, Dane, Ashley, and Brittany; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ty, and sisters, Helen and Norma.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. at Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
