James Robert “Jim” Firestine, 73, of Myerstown, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at WellSpan York Hospital.

He was the husband of Kathryn Marie (Peffley) Firestine. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on May 18, 2021.

Born in Lebanon, PA on December 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Caroline G. (Balsbaugh) Firestine.

A 1965 graduate of ELCO High School, James served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a manager in the auto parts industry, retiring after 46 years. He then worked part-time at the Richland Shooters Supply, and the Myerstown VFW.

James enjoyed hunting, woodworking, yard work, and trap shooting. He was a life member of the Myerstown VFW as a Senior Vice Commander, Myerstown Rod and Gun Club where he served on the Board of Directors, Richland Legion Post 880, Kittatinny Hunting and Fishing Club, NRA and Mt. Aetna Fire Company. A Mason at Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 226. He was also a member of the Keystone Hook and Ladder Company, Goodwill Fire Company, the Prescott Fire Company as a former chief, Millcreek Rod and Gun Club, Fort Indiantown Gap Conservation Club and Lick Run Lodge.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by a son, Robert Firestine, husband of Debbie, of Myerstown; a daughter, Nichole Baldwin, wife of William, of Myerstown; sister, Leah Peters, wife of Bob of New Oxford; grandchildren, Brent Firestine, husband of Emma, Logan Firestine, Mallory Swope, Melanie Baldwin; four step-grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Elyse Firestine; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Jake.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
